Jenny Lee, a co-owner of the indoor cycling studio franchise, Cycle Bar, says her goal is to be open for business in late November to early December.
Her Cycle Bar studio will occupy 2,150 square feet of space at 2525 E. 29th, on Spokane’s South Hill. Lee co-owns the business with her father, Keith Lee, who lives in the Seattle area, she says.
Jenny Lee, originally from western Washington, says she’s been a long-time proponent of the Costa Mesa, California-based Cycle Bar brand.
“My father and I come from customer service backgrounds,” Lee says. “In my opinion, Cycle Bar’s customer service is unmatched,” she says.
Lee says anyone can purchase an exercise bike and place it in their home. But missing from the experience is an enthusiastic environment that she says Cycle Bar instructors are known for creating in studios.
“We’re not a gym where most people tend to go and have an isolated workout,” she says. “This is a shared group fitness that’s designed to be welcoming. It’s so energetic. We want to foster a sense of belonging.”
At the outset, Lee says she envisions morning session classes starting at 5 a.m. on the weekdays and running about four hours until clients start their workdays.
Customarily, classes pick up during the noon hour, tail off, and then see increased traffic as the traditional workday comes to an end for most people, she says.
“We think we can find strong interest in weekend mornings, and, as in some other markets, we’ll experiment with a Sunday afternoon class,” she says.
Lee graduated from Washington State University in 2006. Though she returned to the West Side after graduating, she says she and her husband, Jason Lee, longed to return to Eastern Washington.
“When the opportunity presented itself to move here, we jumped on it,” she says.
