Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest is remodeling its Coeur d’Alene store to improve energy efficiency, update delivery and drop off sites, and renovate office space for the nonprofit’s workforce services program, says Heather Alexander, senior associate vice president of marketing and communications at Goodwill.
The 23,000-square-foot Coeur d’Alene Goodwill store, located at 1212 N. Fourth, was previously an Albertson’s grocery store, says Alexander.
“We want our team members and the people we serve to enjoy the time they spend with us,” says Alexander. “Having more modern amenities, better air conditioning, and more restrooms are just some of the improvements that will make the space more inviting.”
Baker Construction & Development Inc., of Spokane, is the general contractor on the $3 million remodel project, and Spokane-based Bernardo Wills designed it.
The Spokane office of DCI Engineers is the engineer of record, according to building permit information on file with the city of Coeur d’Alene.
Tenant improvements involve expanding Goodwill’s Workforce & Family Services program space to 1,300 square feet from about 500 square feet and separating the program entrance from the retail store, she says.
The Workforce & Family services department will be updated with cubicles for employees and a reception area with a computer station for community access to resources.
Goodwill’s 35 Coeur d’Alene store employees will work at the nonprofit’s Post Falls store, where Goodwill has offered a shuttle van service to help transport staff during the tenant improvements.
The remodel is anticipated to be completed in July 2024.
