The Spokane office of Meridian, Idaho-based T-O Engineers Inc. is moving to a new location to accommodate growth, says Eva Fithen, the firm’s marketing manager.
Currently located in just over 2,000 square feet at 121 W. Pacific downtown, the company is quickly outgrowing its existing space, says Fithen, who is based at the company’s headquarters in Meridian.
The new 6,000-square-foot location is at 1717 S. Rustle, just south of Quality Inn & Suites Airport and west of the John A. Finch Arboretum. T-O Engineers plans to move there on Nov. 1, following some improvements to the space, she adds.
T-O opened its Spokane office in 2015 with one employee, says Fithen. In the last five years, the office staff has grown to 16 employees.
Fithen says the goal is for the company to double its Spokane employee count again in the next five years, or perhaps sooner.
“We are growing a lot. We have a full-service environmental team in that office,” she says. “We’ve really just grown those service offerings, so we want our Spokane office to be full-functioning with more than 30 employees.”
Much of that growth is attributable to the company’s expanded service offerings, Fithen contends.
The company recently brought on an environmental manager who has grown that service group significantly in the Spokane office. The transportation service group and the airport group also have seen growth in those sectors and that has contributed to the company’s growth in the Spokane region, she adds.
“We’re growing at a fast rate but it’s also very balanced,” says Fithen. “We’re very strategic in the way that we grow our company.”
T-O Engineers has 10 service groups, all of which are now offered through the Spokane office, says Fithen.
J.R. Norvell, regional manager for the company, says the Spokane office will likely handle more than 100 new projects this year, including environmental studies for Spokane County and the realignment of inbound Airport Drive that’s now under construction at the Spokane International Airport.
He adds that he expects “the number of employees and the overall revenue of the Spokane office to grow by 20% from 2019 to 2020.”
Additionally, the engineering company was drawn to the space because of its proximity to the West Plains and Spokane International Airport, Fithen says.
“We feel like the center of Spokane development is moving into that region,” she says. “We just wanted to be a part of that. We work on a ton of projects out in the West Plains and we do a lot of work at the Spokane Airport.”
