Seattle-based law firm Williams, Kastner & Gibbs PLLC, which does business as Williams Kastner, has opened an Inland Northwest office in Spokane.
The firm’s interim office location occupies about 140 square feet of space in the Regus co-working facility on the 14th floor of the former Wells Fargo building at 601 W. First, says Amanda Teags, chief operating officer for Williams Kastner.
Hunter M. Abell, an attorney with Williams Kastner and one of three working out of the Spokane office, says the firm is looking for a permanent home that can accommodate six to 10 attorneys, plus support staff. The office here likely will have a mix of new hires and Seattle-based attorneys interested in making Spokane their home.
Abell says the opening of an Inland Northwest office has been in the works for about a decade.
“We recognize we’ve always had a regional presence,” he says. “We are now leaning into that identity.”
Spokane is an ideal location as it pulls work from the surrounding areas including Idaho, Moses Lake, Washington, and the Tri-Cities, he adds.
Abell grew up on the Colville Indian Reservation, in northeastern Washington, and received his law degree from Gonzaga University. He has been working remotely from Eastern Washington for the past three years. In September, he will take the helm as the next president of the Washington State Bar Association, a position that he says will help increase statewide presence of the firm and its Inland Northwest office.
William Kastner was established in 1929. It employs about 60 attorneys between its offices in Spokane, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon, says Abell. Practice areas include business litigation and transportation, land use, employment, and real estate law.
