Mygrant Glass Co., a California automotive wholesaler with a facility in Spokane Valley, has submitted a commercial building permit application for a new building with an estimated price tag to exceed $8 million.
The building application calls for a new facility to be built at 3619 N. Barker, which is two miles east of Mygrant’s current location. The company’s current facility is located at 16311 E. Euclid.
The new commercial distribution warehouse and office would encompass 105,600 square feet of space and cost $8.2 million to build, according to the application.
Spokane-based Baker Construction & Development Inc. is listed as the project’s general contractor, and Architectural Ventures, of Spokane Valley, is listed as the project architect.
A Journal inquiry to Mygrant Glass was referred to the company’s nationwide headquarters in Hayward, California, however, company representatives there couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.
The company’s website says the family-owned business was founded in 1926 under the name Harry R. Mygrant Glass & Glazing.
The company became a wholesaler in 1952 and expanded to a half-dozen locations by 1966. With just one location operating by 1979, Michael R. Mygrant took over the company and is now general manager of 67 locations nationwide, says the company’s website.
