Inland Construction Co., of Spokane, plans to develop a $4 million, 54-unit apartment complex on Spokanes South Hill, five blocks south of the Cedar Canyon Shopping Center.
Darin Davidson, a spokesman for Inland Construction, says site work for the project, which will be at 6212 S. Regal, is scheduled to start this week.
The first living units there are expected to be available this fall, and the project likely will be completed early next year, he says.
Were targeting an empty-nester market, Davidson says. It will be a gated community.
The complex, to be called the Southwood Apartments, will include four, two-story apartment buildings with 12 living units each, and three duplex buildings.
The apartment buildings will house mostly two-bedroom, two-bathroom living units, with a few three-bedroom, two-bathroom units. All of the duplex units will include three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
In addition to developing the Southwood Apartments, Inland Construction is the general contractor for the complex and will own it. Haines Architectural Services, of Spokane, designed it.
Inland Construction is involved in several other multitenant-living projects, both in the Spokane area and elsewhere. The company is a general contractor on a $4.9 million, 114-unit apartment complex, called Deer Run at Northpointe, on Spokanes North Side.
That project likely will get under way later this summer.
Also, Inland Construction recently completed work on a dormitory complex at Gonzaga University. That $4.2 million project will accommodate up to 90 students.
