Appleway Automotive Group, of Spokane, has demolished its Mazda dealership building, at 10006 E. Sprague, and plans to build a new sales and service center there for its Audi and Volkswagen lines, county records show.
Appleway currently sells Audi, Volkswagen, and Subaru vehicles from a building thats just west of the former Mazda dealership.
According to plans filed with Spokane County, Appleway expects to build an about 16,000-square-foot dealership building that would have an Audi showroom on its east side and a Volkswagen showroom on the west side, as well as four service garages. The structure is expected to have about 7,400 square feet of showroom and office space and about 8,500 square feet of vehicle repair space.
Ron Joseph, an architect at Lindquist Architects, the Spokane firm that designed the structure, says the Audi and Volkswagen showrooms will have separate entrances and will be separated by an interior wall. Two service garages will be located just east of the Audi showroom and two additional service garages will be located just west of the Volkswagen showroom. All four garages would lead to a shared service area located behind the showrooms on the south side of the building, he says.
Joseph says Appleway has demolished the sales and service center of its Mazda dealership to make room for the new Audi-VW building. Its unclear whether the automotive groups Mazda vehicles now will share space in Appleways Subaru dealership or be moved elsewhere.
Sources at Appleway decline to disclose the projects estimated cost or to provide details about the project. County documents put the value of the project at about $600,000.
A building permit hasnt yet been issued for the Audi-VW building.
Once work begins, the project is expected to take about six months to complete, Joseph says.
Associated Construction Inc., of Spokane, has been selected as the general contractor.
