State National Bank, of Garfield, Wash., plans to open a second branch office in Spokane early next year and will move some of its administrative functions there from Garfield.
Stan Yarbrough, State Nationals chief financial officer, declines to disclose many details about the banks plans, including where the branch will be located exactly. Still, he says that a group of investors has bought a former bank branch in the Spokane Valley, and that State National plans to lease the facility from the investment group for the new branch.
The branch is expected to employ about 10 people. Some of those people will be new hires, while others will be transferred to the new location from one of the banks other two branches, Yarbrough says.
Although the bank hasnt finalized its plans, Yarbrough says some of the administrative functions that likely will be moved to Spokane from Garfield include operational support and financial-loan administration. He says that the banks credit-card administration department likely will remain in Garfield.
State National entered the Spokane market earlier this year, when it built a 3,000-square-foot branch on Spokanes North Side, at 9727 N. Nevada. That branch was the banks first location outside of Garfield, where it has operated a single branch for 97 years.
The Garfield operation employs six people.
Earlier this year, the bank had said it planned to open a total of four branches in Spokane and likely would move its headquarters to Spokane within the next three to five years.
Yarbrough now says that State National still plans to open additional branches here, but currently isnt actively seeking any other sites. In addition to Spokane, he says the bank also is looking for possible branch locations in Whitman County.
