Guardian Angel Homes starts $6 million facility

Assisted-living complex in Post Falls to include four home-like structures

February 26, 1997
Sandra Hosking

A new Hayden Lake, Idaho, company called Guardian Angel Homes LLC has begun construction of a $6 million assisted-living complex in Post Falls.

The project involves building four 10,000-square-foot structures at 1050 E. Mullan Ave. that will be licensed to house a total of 60 residents, says Marty Frantz, part owner of Guardian Angel Homes. Construction of the first two buildings is expected to be completed next February, depending on the weather, and the remaining two are expected to be completed in June, he says.

The buildings, which will look like single-family homes, are expected to serve patients who need a more advanced level of care, such as those who need help bathing and taking medications or who have Alzheimers disease, Frantz says.

Each of the two-story buildings will contain 12 living units, a heated garage, and a large common area, including a living room, dining area, and kitchen on the first floor and staff living quarters and offices on the second floor, Frantz says.

Guardian Angel Homes plans to employ two resident primary caregivers at each building, who will be part owners of the building in which they reside, plus three to four other staff members, Frantz says. The buildings will be staffed 24 hours a day and will operate independently of each other, he says.

Human Resource Construction Co., a Hayden Lake-based affiliate of Guardian Angel Homes that is owned partly by Frantz, is the general contractor on the construction project.

Frantz is a partner in more than 20 affiliated companies that own and operate a total of about 25 retirement, assisted-living, and multifamily facilities in seven western states.

Affiliates operate two adult-family homes in the Spokane Valley, three in Coeur dAlene, and a 36-unit assisted-living facility in Moses Lake.
