Divine Corp., of Spokane, plans to open a gas station-convenience store next month at the northwest corner of Mission Avenue and Greene Street, near Spokane Community College.
The outlet would be the companys ninth in the Spokane area, counting gas stations, gas station-convenience stores, and automotive service stations.
Jim Redmon, who owns Divine with his wife, Laura, says the company is planning other outlets in the Spokane area, but he declines to say where or when they might open.
At the site near SCC, Divine has begun remodeling an older 3,200-square-foot building that will house the convenience store, and it plans to install four pumping stations that will dispense Shell brand gasoline, Redmon says. The facility will employ 10 to 12 people. Divine is acting as its own general contractor on the project, the cost of which wasnt disclosed.
In addition to the above-mentioned outlets, Divine Corp. operates Divines Towing Service and Divines Oil Co., which distributes heating oil and gasoline. Both are based at Divine Corp.s headquarters at 203 W. Third.
The Redmons bought Divine Corp. at the beginning of this year from Ardith Divine, and she retired. Her late husband, Jack, opened the companys first outlet in 1956. Laura Redmon is the couples daughter.
