American Manufacturing Solutions LLC, of Spokane, has leased 50,000 square feet of industrial space in a multitenant building in Spokane Valley, where the company plans to move from smaller quarters in Spokane, says Luke Ankenman, partner and general manager.
The new site is at 6021 E. Mansfield, about seven miles southeast of its current base of operations at 2425 E. Magnesium Road, on Spokane’s North Side.
American Manufacturing Solutions is a registered trade name of B&C Custom Manufacturing. The company takes raw material, typically metal or plastic, and manufactures parts for companies in the health care, aerospace, and energy industries.
“We have some medical mobility, basically wheelchair stuff, that we do,” he says. “We do hydrogen power and batteries. We’ve got aerospace and a lot of rail automation, and we work with some of the casting houses around town for steel castings.”
Renovations at the Mansfield facility are expected to cost about $350,000 and will include adding a 1,700-square-foot office area, a 500-square-foot break room, and a 200-square-foot conference room. Ankenman says he anticipates the company will occupy the new space in May.
“We’ll be closed for about two weeks to move into the property,” he says, adding that Spokane Valley-based Rhodes Crane will help move the company’s large, heavy equipment to the new space.
American Manufacturing Solutions has 25 computer numerical control machines.
The Mansfield location offers about 20,000 square feet more workable space than the Magnesium site, he says.
“We had a 28,000-square-foot basement that we couldn’t get any machines into or anything. So usable space (at Mansfield) is much better for us, and it’s laid out better,” Ankenman says. “It’s more central. It should lower our costs too.”
The new building is LEED certified, which will reduce energy consumption and costs, he adds.
Ankenman says the move provides an opportunity for the company to increase the number of businesses it works with, as well as the types of projects it can work on. The custom manufacturer currently works with about 50 clients, he says.
“We’re trying to increase that … because we continue to grow,” says Ankenman.
He says annual revenue for American Manufacturing Solutions was $3.6 million in 2022 and exceeded its goal of earning $3 million for the year.
