Aho Construction I Inc., of Vancouver, Wash., has purchased a 30-acre parcel of land on the West Plains and plans to develop a 90-lot residential subdivision there.
Aho received approval from Spokane County of a preliminary plat for the subdivision, which is to be located at 6200 S. Thomas Mallen Road. The property is south of Interstate 90 and north of Hallett Road. The land purchase was handled by Jim Watson, of Kiemle & Hagood Co., and Sam Smith, of Century 21 Columbia, of Pasco.
The subdivision is to be located on unincorporated land in Spokane County, but would be served by city of Spokane water and sewer systems.
Were getting engineering drawings approved, and we will be building this year, says Tom Arrowsmith, Ahos land development manager.
Along with developing the project, Aho will build the homes in the subdivision. Also, it will design the floor plans that will be used there, Arrowsmith says.
The company hasnt set prices for homes in Maple Terrace yet, but Arrowsmith says the homes would be similar to those in its other developments on the West Plains.
Aho is completing a 285-unit development of single-family residences, called Big Sky, near Medical Lake that it started in 2004. The development company also is working on a 34-lot addition to the 213-lot Hunters Crossing subdivision in Airway Heights.
Ahos Web site says the homes its offering in Hunters Crossing are priced at $147,000 to $213,500, with floor space totals ranging from 1,100 square feet to 2,700 square feet. If the Maple Terraces home prices average $180,000, the project would have a total value of more than $16 million.
Aho also is proposing Rolling Hills Estates, a planned 214-lot subdivision, on 60 acres of land in Spangle, south of Spokane.
