Graham Construction Inc., of Spokane, says it has won a nearly $13 million contract to upgrade Spokane International Airports rental-car facilities.
Graham has started construction on the project, which is the second phase of a roughly $14 million upgrade, and expects to complete the work by Oct. 1, says project manager Brian Holecek.
The project is located at the 16-acre rental-car area northeast of the main terminal.
The work includes building a nearly 24,000-square-foot service facility, which will house maintenance and car-wash bays for the rental companies, and expanding the parking lot where customers pick up and return rental vehicles. A separate structure will provide vehicle-fueling and vacuuming services, and other upgrades will include vehicle canopies, pedestrian canopies, and customer-service kiosks.
Rental-car companies currently operate in seven buildings, which will be torn down to make room for the new service building.
Cortner Architectural Co., of Spokane, designed the project.
Separately, Graham also has landed a contract worth $1.4 million to build a new welcome center at Heyburn State Park, near Plummer, Idaho, Holecek says. Construction of that 2,600-square-foot structure is expected to start in early March and be completed in late September, he says. H2A Architects PA, of Coeur dAlene, designed the project.
