The city of Spokane has approved a conditional-use permit for Daniel Garabedian, of Spokane, to develop a six-unit townhouse complex on property he owns at 2306 E. South Riverton, in north Spokane.
The property, located at the southeast corner of Stone Street and South Riverton Avenue, is an 'L'-shaped parcel about 10,600 square feet in size. Currently, it has a single-family house on it, which would be removed for the development, according to city documents.
Tami Palmquist, a city of Spokane planner, says the conditional-use permit is needed for the proposed development because it's near the shoreline of the Spokane River. The city's staff recommends that the townhouses be situated on the lot so that they take advantage of views of the river.
According to the documents, Garabedian will add a sidewalk to the property along South Riverton, and will build garages and on-site parking for the townhouses. Garabedian also owns a triplex on adjoining property just south of the proposed development.
