Camco Construction Inc., of Spokane, has been awarded a $620,000 contract to build an addition to the Washington State University Children's Center, in Pullman.
The 46,000-square-foot building, located at 1425 SE Olympia Way, will be expanded through addition of 2,500 square feet of floor space to its south side, says Kate Kamerrer, director of accounting and contract administration for WSU's facilities operations.
The center currently includes a pre-school, day care, laboratory facilities for university students, and faculty office space, she says.
The additional space will provide enough room for two more day-care classrooms, support space, and additional bathrooms, she says.
The work is being done because the center needed additional capacity for increasing enrollment in the day care, a facility for children of students, faculty, and staff, she says.
The work is to be completed by early October, she says. The WSU staff architect and project manager for the project is Richard Kizer, she says. Design consulting was done by NAC/Architecture Inc., of Spokane, she says.
The total estimated cost of the project is about $1 million, she says, which includes Camco's general contracting work, some consulting fees, contract administration costs, and other costs.
The property and building are owned by WSU, she says.
