Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest has purchased 6.3 acres of land on the West Plains, where the nonprofit plans to build a 60,000-square-foot retail store and salvage processing area, says Heather Alexander, senior associate vice president of marketing and communications.
The site is located at the southeast corner of Flight Drive and Deer Heights Road, near the Pacific Northwest Technology Park.
The nonprofit purchased the property in early June for $770,000, according to Spokane County Assessor’s Office records.
“Our retail stores are the primary source of support for our Goodwill programs,” says Clark Brekke, the organization’s president and CEO in a press release announcing the plans for the new store. “We are excited for the opportunity to bring more support to our Goodwill programs with the addition of this new facility.”
Goodwill plans to open the facility in late summer 2022. The project will be the nonprofit’s seventh Spokane area location. In total, the organization will have 15 locations throughout Eastern Washington and North Idaho, says Alexander.
She says the project budget will be determined by the design of the building. Goodwill plans to issue a request for qualifications from design-build teams within the next few weeks, she adds.
