Jansen Construction Co., of Oregon City, Ore., has been awarded a contract to build a Hampton Inn & Suites hotel in Spokane Valley, in a project that will cost an estimated $11 million.
Gustin Property Group LLC, of Albuquerque, N.M., is developing the 106-room hotel, which will be located at 16418 E. Indiana, east of the Spokane Valley Mall near River View Corporate Center, says company President Bob Gustin. The $11 million estimated cost includes land, the building, furniture, and start-up costs, he says.
Project manager Alex Jansen says the four-story hotel will have about 65,000 square feet of floor space. Construction already has begun on the project, and it's expected to be complete in 11 months, he says. He declines to disclose the amount of Jansen Construction's contract. A building permit with the city of Spokane Valley shows the construction project cost is $7.5 million.
Gustin says an affiliate of Gustin Property Group, Spokane WV Hotel LLC, will own the hotel and the 2.5-acre lot it will occupy. About 25 people will be hired to staff the hotel, he says.
Womer & Associates Inc., of Spokane, designed the hotel, and CLC Associates Inc., of Spokane Valley, is the engineer.
Gustin Property Group's principals have completed more than 30 hotel, restaurant, residential, and office developments in the U.S. and Canada, Gustin says. He has been involved in the development of 11 hotels, and he currently oversees the management of two hotels.
Gustin Property Group's past and current projects include Homewood Suites by Hilton, in Denver; River Terrace Inn, in Napa, Calif.; Hotel Indigo, in Houston; and Fremont Hotel, in Chicago, he says.
