MDM Construction Inc., of Hayden, Idaho, has won a $2.7 million project to install sewer lines in the Greenacres area near Greenacres Road and Appleway Avenue, east of Spokane Valley.
Cindy Grasso, a Spokane County program specialist, says the sewer-line project is part of a larger effort by the county to eliminate septic tanks over the Spokane-Rathdrum Aquifer, and will provide sewer service to about 310 homes. The county is paying for the project with help from the Washington state Department of Ecology, Grasso says.
The work will be done in an area bounded by Appleway on the north, Sixth Avenue on the south, Greenacres on the east, and Flora Road on the west, she says.
The project will include laying about 16,350 linear feet of eight-inch diameter sewer pipe, and 8,400 linear feet of four-inch and six-inch diameter sewer pipe, making 310 sewer connections, and installing 63 manholes. The work also will include replacing asphalt pavement removed by the project.
Streets where pipe will be laid within the project area include: Flora, from Third Avenue to Sprague Avenue; Coach Court and Drive; Bell Street; First through Sixth avenues; Arc Street, from Fifth to Sixth; Sprague, from Appleway to Greenacres Road; Manifold Lane; Arties Lane; Moen Street; Greenacres, from Appleway to Fourth Avenue; and Beige Lane, north of Eighth Avenue, says Kevin Cooke, county sewer planning and design manager.
The work started last week, and is to take 90 working days to complete.
