Leone & Keeble Inc., of Spokane, is constructing several projects in the Northwest worth a combined $86.3 million. The projects include a previously reported $75 million expansion at the Coeur d'Alene Tribe's Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort Hotel, near Worley, Idaho, that Leone & Keeble is constructing through a joint venture; $10.2 million in additions to the Capitol Theatre, in Yakima, Wash., which Leone & Keeble is constructing through another joint venture; and a $1.3 million Inland Northwest Bank Branch building, in Spokane Valley.
In Yakima, Leone & Keeble is part of a joint venture with G.H. Moen LLC, of Yakima, that is the general contractor and construction manager on $10.2 million in additions to the 1,500-square-foot Capitol Theatre there. Work has just begun on a new 10,000-square-foot production center adjacent to the current theater, says Barbara Cline, of Traho Architects PS, of Yakima, which is designing the project. The production center will include 25 foot-high ceilings, a truck bay, and dressing rooms, as well as an adjacent 200-400 seat theatre at the back of the building to accommodate smaller performances. Construction is expected to be completed on the production center late next summer.
Also included in the projected cost is a separate planned project to construct a two-story annex next to the theater that will house meeting spaces, a box office, a food-service area, and a jazz club, with administrative offices for the theater on the second floor. Later, another $5 million phase of work is planned to construct a pedestrian plaza and lobby extension at the theater.
Leone & Keeble is part of another joint venture called HFLK, with Hartanov/Fuller General Contractors Inc., also of Spokane, that's constructing a $75 million addition to the Coeur d'Alene Casino near Worley, Idaho.
The joint venture broke ground on the project in May and expects to complete the work in June of 2011, says Jeff Weaver, a project manager at Leone & Keeble. The project includes constructing two new buildings that will house about 100 hotel rooms, and a new entry road and parking for the gaming complex.
The new entry road will include a concrete precast bridge to cross a wetland area and a drive-up canopy for valet parking, as well as what the resort is calling a "sky-catcher," a long promenade that will connect the main casino to the new buildings, Weaver says. One of the new buildings will include a steak house with hotel rooms above it. The other building will include a 15,000-square-foot-spa with hotel rooms above it.
The contractor also will do some remodeling inside the main casino to tie it in with the additions, he says. The resort currently has more than 200 hotel rooms and more than 100,000 square feet of gaming space.
The tribe said the project also will include adding a natural amphitheater for concerts and other outdoor events.
Mithun Inc., of Seattle, designed the project, Weaver says.
Separately, Leone & Keeble is constructing a freestanding branch for Inland Northwest Bank in Spokane Valley, at 15015 E. Sprague. The $1.3 million project began late last month, and is expected to be completed around January. ALSC Architects PS, of Spokane, designed the structure, which will have 4,000 square feet of floor space and three drive-through lanes.
The bank said earlier that the project will replace its lone remaining in-store branch, which is inside a Yoke's Fresh Market supermarket, at 15111 E. Sprague, across Sprague from the site.
