John Hansen and Barbara Chisholm, owners of Spokane-based Car Wash Plazas Inc., plan to open their fifth car wash in the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene area this year, says Justin Gray, project manager for Vandervert Construction Inc., of Spokane, the contractor on the project.
The car wash project, which is under plan review by the city of Spokane, will be located at 417 S. Thor, directly across Thor from a 140,000-square-foot Fred Meyer retail store and just north of a recently opened Fred Meyer fueling center that Vandervert also constructed, Gray says.
The construction project is valued at $450,000, the city's building permit information says, although Gray says that doesn't include the cost of the car wash equipment. Gray says he expects the project to be completed next spring.
Hansen and Chisholm couldn't be reached for comment.
The car wash will have five self-serve bays and two automatic bays and will occupy 5,000 square feet of space, Gray says.
Hansen and Chisholm own Lyons Park Car Wash Plaza, at 6804 N. Nevada, and Wandermere Car Wash Plaza, next to the Fred Meyer store, at 12120 N. Division, both of which Vandervert built in 2008. They also own car washes in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls.
The planned car wash and the adjoining fuel station are on land owned by Hart Family Investments LLC, which is headed by Chattaroy developer Joy Hart. It is in a commercial district adjacent to the Thor-Freya interchange with Interstate 90.
