Sales manager buys into Liberty Lake, Valley Windermere
Rick Rieger, a former sales manager for an international medical supplier, says he has bought a 50 percent interest in Windermere Real Estate Valley Inc. from broker and owner Cate Moye. The brokerage has offices in Spokane Valley and Liberty Lake, has 110 agents, and handles both residential and commercial real estate.
Rieger, who has lived in Spokane for 20 years, but has spent most of his work time on the road, says he decided to team up with Moye because he wanted to spend more time at home, and because "she needed some extra hands."
Rieger says he brings to the partnership experience in managing salespeople in different industries, and Moye, whom he has known socially for 15 years, brings a depth of knowledge about real estate.
Rieger previously worked for Covidien plc, a Dublin, Ireland-based medical supplier with U.S. headquarters in Mansfield, Mass.
Moye serves as co-chairwoman of the Washington Real Estate Commission and is a member of the professional standards committee of the Spokane Association of Realtors.
She purchased Windermere Valley in 1998 and opened Windermere Liberty Lake in April 2006.
In-home pet service based in the Tri-Cities expands into Spokane
Nanny Canine LLC, a Richland, Wash-based in-home pet-care service, recently has expanded to the Spokane market.
The Spokane operation is being managed by Rashan Cooney and currently has two employees, but owner Veronica Alford-McGlothan says she hopes to add four more people to the Spokane staff. The operation is managed from Cooney's Spokane Valley home.
Nanny Canine was founded in 2007 and has five part-time employees in Richland, Alford-McGlothan says.
She says the service offers overnight and daily care of pets in the pet owners' homes, and that its employees must pass a criminal background check, engage in 12 hours of training, and obtain an American Red Cross pet First Aid training certificate before serving customers.
Nanny Canine charges $85 for an overnight stay with a pet, $30 for a 45-minute visit, and $20 for a 30-minute visit, its Web site says. It also offers such services as dog walking; giving medication to dogs; taking them to the veterinarian, trainer, or groomer; or delivering dog food, toys, or other pet-care products.
Alford-McGlothan, who manages the Richland operation from her home, says the business currently has 200 clients in the Tri-Cities.
Filter distributor opens branch office in Spokane
EMI Filtration Products LLC, a Boise-based company that sells air filters, has opened a branch office in Spokane in an 8,000-square-foot leased space at 3410 E. Desmet, near the intersection of Trent Avenue and Freya Street.
"Spokane is a good market for us," says Brad Wendt, the new Spokane-based territory manager. "We have been servicing clients in Spokane from Seattle and Boise. We hope to expand into Montana from the Spokane office."
Wendt says the company sells air filters for commercial, industrial, and home use. He says EMI is a distributor of Flanders Filters. Flanders Corp., of Washington, N.C., manufactures high-grade filters for commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.
EMI currently has three full-time employees here. The company's corporate office is in Boise, and it has other branches in Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Kent, Wash.
Angelina Salon & Spa changes owners at North Side strip mall
Bethany Menetto and her husband, John, have purchased Angelina Salon & Spa, which is located in a 900-square-foot leased space at 8701 N. Division, from Yuriy and Anna Guzevatiy.
The salon, located at the back of a strip mall just north of Magnesium Road, is open six days a week plus weekday evenings. It does haircuts, waxing, and pedicures and features a line of European low-ammonia-content hair coloring products. It has five part-time employees.
Menetto says she has been a beautician for 13 years. She previously worked out of her basement, but prefers to work in a location outside her home. "It's better when you have kids," she says. John Menetto also works as a boiler maintenance engineer at Providence Holy Family Hospital.
Her future plans for the business include putting up a sign on the street side of the strip mall to increase awareness of its location, she says.
She also wants to hold a community service event, offering free makeovers to women who are overcoming personal tragedy and need a physical and emotional boost, she says.
Seller of trade-show displays expands reach
Skyline Inland Northwest, which sells trade-show advertising products from its office at 9922 E. Montgomery, in Spokane Valley, is expanding its sales territory to include Montana and Wyoming, says Skyline marketing consultant Crystal Schaeffer.
The company has no plans to set up offices in those states, but will hold seminars and make customer visits there, Schaeffer says.
The company creates custom exhibits and trade-show booth displays to show off a client's products or services.
"Our customers need a reliable source who they can count on for their trade-show needs. We do not want them to have to rely solely on an Internet provider," says owner Jeff Backstrom.
Schaeffer says the Spokane Valley company plans to work with companies such as medical suppliers, lumber concerns, and government agencies in its expanded territory. It currently has five full-time and three part-time employees here. The current staff will handle the added territory, Schaeffer says.
Skyline Inland Northwest is an independent dealer for Skyline International Design Center, of St. Paul, Minn.
