The Kalispel Development Co., the development arm of the Kalispel Tribal Economic Authority, has projects approaching $30 million in value in the works at its Northern Quest Resort & Casino, on the West Plains.

Brandon Haugen, general manger of Kalispel Development, says the nearly $20 million, 55,000-square-foot expansion on the south side of the casino is well underway and will be opened in phases starting in late May and going through midsummer.

The expansion will house a Cyber Quest arcade, a Kids Quest attraction, a movie-and-dinner theater complex, and a retail store to be called Windfall.

Lydig Construction Inc., of Spokane Valley, is the general contractor for the expansion, with Spokane-based Garco Construction Inc. handling work on the movie-and-dinner complex. ALSC Architects PS, of Spokane, designed the expansion.

The Kalispels also are developing a $7 million recreational-vehicle park on 17 acres of land south of the casino and west of a Chevron gas station. Haugen says the RV park will include 70 RV stalls, 18 cottages, a clubhouse, two wash houses, and a dog park. It’s scheduled to open midsummer.

Garco is the contractor on that project, and Spokane-based Womer & Associates designed it.

Kalispel Tribal Economic Authority announced its plans for the casino expansion and RV park in February 2017. Since then, the organization also has started work on a $1 million-plus renovation of its Impulse lounge, a $1 million-plus makeover of its 10th floor hotel rooms, and a $1 million-plus seating expansion at its oudoor concert venue.
