A 30-year-old, Wenatchee-based telecommunications company plans to open a branch office here April 4 with hopes to expand on its customer base, says Aren Magnussen, the company’s vice president.
Interwest Communications Inc. will lease 2,200 square feet of space in a 7,000-square-foot, multitenant building located at 14 E. Mission, Magnussen says.
Interwest sells and provides services for cabling for voice and data transmissions, fiber optic wiring, computer networking, establishing security systems including video surveillance, and electronic card access for businesses of all sizes.
The family-owned company, which employs a total of 12 people, generates approximately $2.5 million in annual revenue, Magnussen says. In addition to the planned office here, it has an office in Kennewick, he says.
The Spokane office will be operated by Pat Coffman, who recently was appointed the company’s vice president for Eastern Washington, he says. Coffman, a company sales representative and technician, will initially work in the office.
“We see Spokane as a market that has a lot of growth potential, which is obviously what we’d like to do,” Magnussen says. “Spokane seemed like an obvious fit for us.”
Interwest has entered a two-year lease for the space on Mission that provides an exit clause after a year in the event it outgrows that location.
“We’re really excited about this opportunity,” Magnussen says.
